About Fredericton Gender Minorities

Fredericton Gender Minorities began in November 2012 as a space for trans and gender-non-conforming individuals to come together and have discussions about gender that we found to be lacking in other spaces. Since then our group has grown exponentially in size and scope, and we are now an established part of Fredericton's LGBTQ+ community. We have weekly meetings at Clinic 554  focused on a wide range of topics and activities, and we regularly host other fun and educational events and gatherings in the city.

A large part of our group's focus is supporting trans, gender-non-conforming, and intersex individuals through social and medical transition. As part of our support and outreach activities we hold second-hand clothing exchanges, consult with educators and employers, purchase transition-related items for members in need, help members navigate legal name and sex marker changes, help members locate the medical and social services they need to live happily and comfortably, and more. Email us  for more information about our group and the services we offer.
Administrative Chairs: Julian & Reid
Meeting Chairs: Nat, Indigo, & Max

Our Leadership Team:

We are currently looking for 1-2 additional members to join our leadership team! Right now our team is lacking in representation from trans women, intersex people, and people of colour. These additional spots will be held until an appropriate individual is willing to submit their name to the group for consideration. For more details about chair responsibilities please send us an email with a short description of yourself.

Building Stronger, Safer Communities

For many trans, gender non-conforming, and intersex individuals in New Brunswick, coming to a Fredericton Gender Minorities meeting is the first time they have ever met anyone else who shares their experiences and struggles. We are proud to have built a large group of individuals who look out for and support each other unconditionally, and we are always happy to see new faces at our meetings and events. We believe in creating spaces where people of all genders can come together and make powerful, lasting connections that will help get them through the hard times and celebrate the good ones.

For those who want to be allies to our community we offer a wide range of services, including consultation on policy, workshops and lectures, informative literature, and regular panel presentations on trans identities and social justice. We encourage you to get in touch with us if you would like to improve your organization's competency in interacting with clients, students, and/or employees of all genders.
